Tips for Setting up New Moodle Courses

The following 2 quick tips show teachers how to set up your Moodle courses easily.

Tip 1: Quick Moodle course start-up video tutorials

You can set up your Moodle course easily by uploading course materials, creating assignments and Turnitin Assignments (A plagiarism checking tool).

Tip 2: Change the layout for new courses

Moodle courses are automatically created using the topic layout, i.e. having 10 topic sections in the course by default (see Figure 1).

We have prepared two layouts for teachers, topic layout with 6 topic sections (see Figure 2) and weekly layout (see Figure 3). If you would like to use one of these layouts, please send the Moodle course code(s) to eLearningteam@hku.hk and we will help you to change the layout of the course(s). Note that this should be done before you start to upload course materials. Changing the course layout during running a Moodle course is NOT advisable.
