New functions Online Class – Zoom Moodle Block are set up under Moodle to facilitate teachers to arrange online classes for their Moodle courses via Zoom. Staff and students can join Zoom meetings for their Moodle courses directly via the Block through a single click.

Only teachers and Moodle Course Administrators who are HKU staff can create meeting under the Online Class – Zoom Moodle Block.

The one who created the meeting link will be the meeting host who will be granted with the in-meeting control rights. After the meeting link is created, other teachers and Moodle Course Administrator can also join and start the meeting.

The meeting link created is for recurrent meetings which means it can be used for multiple classes throughout the Moodle course.

If a class is having more than 300 students, teacher may request for the license for a Zoom Large Meeting option which can support up to 500 participants.

[1] To disable the share screen function, the host can click the Security button and turn off the Share Screen function to disallow participants to share their screens. Similarly, for the waiting room and chat function.
