Moodle x MS Teams

New functions Online Class – Microsoft Teams Moodle Block are set up under Moodle to facilitate teachers to arrange online classes for their Moodle courses via Microsoft Teams (thereafter “MS Teams”).  Staff and students can join MS Teams meetings for their Moodle courses directly via the Block through a single click.

A. If you are a staff, please read the Staff section for details

B. If you are a student and other participant, please reed Student section for details

C. To learn more in-meeting control rights, please read the section In-meeting Control Rights for Zoom Meetings

Notes:

  1. Under MS Teams, staff and students belong to TWO different organizations.  All participants not belonging to the same organization are classified as Guests in MS Teams.  For example, a Teaching Assistant who is a Research Postgraduate is a guest if she joins a meeting organized by a Lecturer who is a staff member.
  1. Only teachers and Moodle Course Administrators who are HKU staff can login the Online Class – Microsoft Teams Moodle Block.  A meeting link will be automatically created upon the first successful login to Microsoft Office 365 via this block.
  1. The one who created the meeting link (i.e. the first who logged in via this block) will be the meeting organizer who will be granted with the in-meeting control rights e.g. manage meeting permission.
  1. The meeting link created is for recurrent meetings which means it can be used for multiple classes throughout the Moodle course.
  1. User Guide for MS Teams can be found at https://www.its.hku.hk/services/communication/conferencing/teams.
