A) Moodle LMS upgrade
The upgrade of the Moodle Learning Management System on 31 July, 2016 was postponed due to an unexpected problem found during the final upgrade rehearsal exercise.
The cause of the problem is identified and Moodle Learning Management System upgrade from version 2.8.6 to version 3 will be rescheduled to the following period where all access to Moodle System will be temporarily suspended:
Date: August 14, 2016 (Sunday)
Time: 6:00 am to 6:00 pm
Teachers are advised not to set the due date of any Moodle related activities, for example, assignment or quiz on August 14 and August 15, 2016 as students will not be able to access the Moodle System on August 14, 2016.
Please note that a few Moodle plugin functions are not supported in Moodle version 3 (Please find more information at http://moodle-support.hku.hk/faq/any-plugins-disable-moodle-30) .

B) Moodle Turnitin assignment version 2 plugin installation
The current Turnitin assignment plugin running in Moodle platform is version 1 (V1). Moodle Turnitin version 2 plugin (V2) will be installed during the above Moodle upgrade period. The V2 plugin provides new good features like PeerMark for peer assessment. Please be noted that teachers will not be able to create any new Turnitin V1 assignments in Moodle after 31 August 2016. Nonetheless, all Turnitin V1 assignments created before that day are not affected and are still available for access by teachers and students.
