Moodle has been in place to support the University’s electronic teaching and learning for more than two years. It is a good practice to offload the courses that are older than two years to the Moodle Courses Archive System to release the loading on the server and storage for better performance.
ITS will launch the Moodle Courses Archive System and move all courses that are earlier than 2013 (i.e. course codes ending in “_2012”, “_2011” and earlier codes) from the production Moodle system to the Archive System on 15 July, 2014. It is expected that the Archive System will be sparingly accessed and the performance would be somewhat slower than the production system.
After the move, students, teachers and course administrators still have the “Read-only” access to these archived courses via the “My eLearning” tab of HKU Portal. “Read-only” means that users could not change course contents nor make any submissions to assignments or forums.
