User Guidelines on High Stake Moodle Activities

  • In case a course has more than 500 registered students, we recommend teachers using more Moodle courses to reduce the size of each Moodle course.
  • When conducting online quiz, last minute submission by large number of students may result in slow response from the Moodle system.  Teachers are recommended to allow extra minutes for submission before the end time of the quiz or class.
  • Teachers are discouraged from upload video files directly to Moodle as it will cause heavy system loading in serving the videos. Teachers are recommended to use video streaming service or lecture capture service to upload videos to video streaming servers or Panopto servers, and then put the video links to their Moodle courses for students to access. More information can be found at http://www.its.hku.hk/its-services/streaming/userguide.htm .
