1. My private files

You can use My private files to store your own files on Moodle. These files may be assignment not ready for submission, or for online storage. They may be later submitted to an assignment by using the File picker.

To access My private files:

  1. Click My home on the left navigation menu

  2. My private files will be shown on the right hand side. Your folders and files are listed.

  3. Click on the file to download it
  4. Click on the plus (+) sign next to any folder to view its contents
  5. Click on the Manage my private files to add files, create folders; download, rename, delete, or move a folder or a file, zip a folder, or unzip a zip file.
  6. To add a file,
  7. Click "Manage my private files".

  8. Click "Add" to select file

2. Add a file

  1. There are several ways to add a file:
    1. To upload a file from the local computer,
      1. Select Upload a file if it is not already selected
      2. Click the Browse button and select a file.
    2. To reuse a file in any of your courses,
      1. Select Server files if it is not already selected
      2. It shows the files on the server. What you can see here depends on if you have the permissions of the contexts.
      3. Note that updates of the original file do not automatically reflect in the new file.
    3. To reuse a recently uploaded file,
      1. Select Recent files if it is not already selected
      2. The files you have recently uploaded will be listed as icons or lists. Click a file to select it.
      3. Note that updates of the original file do not automatically reflect in the new file.
    4. To use a file in My private files (see the section "My private files"),
      1. Select Private files if it is not already selected.

  2. Edit Save as to rename the file on Moodle
  3. Edit Author to specify the author
  4. Either click Upload this file to upload the file, or Select this file for others
  5. Click Save and return to course
