With the Google Drive Service in Moodle, courseware folders of corresponding Moodle courses will be created in Google Drive for teachers and students according to SIS enrollment information. Teachers can upload files to the courseware folders, and share files among teachers and students through their Moodle courses easily. Teachers and students can also use Google collaboration tools (such as Google Docs, Google Sheets) for their teaching and learning activities. To use this service, teachers have to register for the Google Drive Service in Moodle for staff.
A. Teachers to register for the Google Drive Service in Moodle
Teachers should register for the Google Drive Service in Moodle before the courseware folders would be created in Google Drive and accessible through Moodle. For teachers who have applied for the Google Drive service in Moodle, a Google drive courseware folder will be automatically created for their activated SIS/SIS replacement Moodle courses, and enrolled teachers and students will be granted access to the courseware folder according to the SIS enrollment data.
Teachers can register the service through the Moodle plugin “Courseware Folder in Google Drive” in their Moodle courses. Please see below section B for how to access the “Courseware Folder in Google Drive” in Moodle courses.

B. Access the “Courseware Folder in Google Drive” through Moodle courses
You can access the Google Drive courseware folder through Moodle courses.
To access, please login HKU portal, go to My eLearning tab, click access link of your Moodle course. In your Moodle course, click the link “Courseware Folder in Google Drive” (as shown in Figure 2) in the “Navigation“ block to access the Google drive courseware folder.

C. Upload files to the Google Drive courseware folder
Follow the steps in section B to access the Google Drive courseware folder in Moodle (as shown in Figure 3), then click the link to access the course folder in Google Drive application (as shown in Figure 4). Then you can upload or add new files to the courseware folder.

D. Grant editing right of the shared folder to students
Follow the steps in section C to access the Google Drive courseware folder in Google Drive application. Click the “<course code> shared folder”, click the share icon, click “advanced” at the bottom of the pop-up box. Find the group the students of your course (i.e. <course code>@connect.hku.hk), click the view icon, select “Can organize, add and edit”, then click the “Done” button to save.
